Goshen Public Library & Historical Society and RCLS Upgrade Integrated Library System (ILS)

Goshen Public Library & Historical Society and Ramapo Catskill Library System (RCLS) are pleased to announce an upgrade to our integrated library system (ILS) scheduled for August 1-4, 2024. This upgrade will improve access to materials, enhance research capabilities, and amplify the overall library experience for users online and in-person. The upgraded system will better serve users through new features and services, including improved accessibility for all types of materials, including digital resources.

What is an ILS?

An Integrated Library System (ILS) is a comprehensive software suite that integrates various library functions. It serves as a digital card catalog and checkout system, managing day-to-day operations such as cataloging books and handling checkouts. Often referred to as the central nervous system of library automation, an ILS efficiently tracks collections and loaned items.

Transition to Koha

RCLS will transition our ILS to Koha, the world’s first free and open-source library system. Developed with the support of libraries, volunteers, and support companies worldwide, Koha is a fully featured and scalable library management system.

What This Means for You:

· Your library card number/barcode will remain the same.

· Your PIN will remain unchanged.

· Your account information will remain unchanged.
