Community Engagement
The Goshen Public Library & Historical Society is proud to be an active and contributing member of the Goshen Central School District community. The Library facilitates community connections, citizen involvement, support for local non-profits, and thoughtful, relevant philanthropy. The Library supports the school curriculum with reading lists and known homework and research assignments, assembles materials for teachers upon request, and provides space for tutoring and group study. The Library also engages with students onsite at our local schools.

Library provides curriculum support and volunteer activities enabling students to fulfill their community service requirement for Junior National Honor Society membership.
Early Intervention of Orange County
Library provides programming to support children with developmental conditions and space for therapists and counselors to meet with students and families.
Goshen High School
Library provides curriculum support and volunteer activities enabling students to fulfill their community service requirement for National Honor Society membership.
Goshen Intermediate School
Youth Services librarians visit the grades 3 – 5 classrooms to promote participation in the summer reading program.
Goshen Science Olympiad Team
The Library provides space for coaching and team meetings
John S. Burke Catholic High School
Library provides volunteer activities enabling students to fulfill their community service requirement for National Honor Society membership.
Homeschooling Families
Library provides a parent and teaching collection, curriculum support, and space in the Just for Kids area for homeschooling families to socialize and collaborate.
Orange-Ulster BOCES
Library is a School-to-Work Program partner providing students with valuable authentic community work experiences.
Scotchtown Avenue Elementary School
Youth Services librarians visit first-grade classrooms in the fall to encourage signing up for a library card and visit the grades K-2 classrooms in the spring to promote participation in the summer reading program.
SUNY Orange Bridges Pathway Program
Library is a life-work partner providing students with an opportunity to practice life and work skills.

The Library is a stop on the self-guided Goshen Christmas House Tour, an annual fundraiser.

The Library supports the Council’s annual children’s used book drive that provides books to day care facilities.

Library hosted a collection drive for health care and hygiene products for victims of domestic violence, sexual abuse, human trafficking, and crime victimization assisted by this organization.

Partner with Library to provide an outstanding historical lecture series and teen programs. Also provides support for Summer Reading Programs for adults, teens, and kids, the Museum Pass Program that provides admission and reduced admission to ten different museums and attractions, and the Past Perfect and other valuable software platforms and resources in the Local History Room.

The Library works closely with local organizations to present high quality community programming that entertains, informs, and educates. Collaboration for these programs is extensive and includes sharing resources and expertise to deliver unique programs to the community.
Cornerstone Theatre Arts
The Library sponsors Shakespeare in the Park and other performances and educational programing provided by Cornerstone Theatre Arts.
Goshen Historic Track
Harness Racing Museum & Hall of Fame
Partnered with Library to deliver the multi-generational award-winning program, “Baseball at the Orange County Driving Park: Celebrating the History of Baseball and Harness Racing in Goshen, NY” in 2022.
Music for Humanity
Partnered with the Library to deliver a series of community concerts held at the Library.
The Library is a shared community resource for hosting and promoting programs by and meetings of local businesses and community organizations.
Since all programs at the Library are free, they are accessible to all regardless of financial circumstances, making our programming space an important community asset.
AARP Foundation/ Hudson Valley CA$H Coalition
The Library hosted three month-long AARP Tax-Aide Clinic offering free in-person assistance for filing federal and state income tax returns.
